Lecture 30
Reflections of a Future Music Educator
Looking back, teaching forward

Learning Objectives
At the end of the lesson, learners will be able to: (1) articulate a personal teaching philosophy in one paragraph; (2) identify three strengths and one area to grow; (3) set a concrete plan for the first year of teaching.
Lesson Discussion
This final lecture looks back at thirty lessons and forward to a career. Learners write a personal teaching philosophy in one paragraph, then identify what they do well and where they need practice. We discuss the realities of a first teaching post — multi-grade classes, limited instruments, administrative load — and how to protect musical standards within them. The lesson ends with each learner stating one commitment they will keep.
